Captain MY Koi, 35m McMullen and Wing Expedition Yacht
​
Full and sole Captaincy role on a commercial motor yacht with direct communication and logistical management with owners and brokers.
With a lack of management company, have taken full responsibilities for all human resource matters in order to source new, retain and develop a crew of seven full time staff.
My first role as Captain in 2016 for the Mediterranean summer charter season resulted in creating a strong brand in luxury hospitality, resulting in repeat bookings and a full itinerary for the summer 2017 charter season.
Throughout the winter of 2016-17 I co ordinated and successfully completed a 15 year ABS survey carrying out extensive interior and exterior in time for the 2017 charter season.
December 2015-March 2016
Chief Officer New Build MY, 74m Amels, Holland

Setting up on board ISM, ships paperwork and full deck and navigation equipment ready for launch.
During the set up I was approached to take over as captain on another vessel.
November 2015

Watch Officer MY Mischief, 52m Baglietto, Delivery London-Livorno.

Assisting getting the vessel ready for departure.
Delivery to the shipyard.

Working in partnership with current Captain, acting as such during his winter leave.
Frequently taking full control of the vessel for manoeuvring and berthing with and without the Captain present.
Ensured through diligent working ethic a full audit compliant history of concurrently run ISM and Australian OHS systems.
Numerous and expansive Mediterranean summer tours.
Full winter in Eilat, Isreal.
On going maintenance projects in Palma, including full paint of super structure and conversion of stores spaces to a cabin.
Lead role in installing voluntary ISM system.

Chief Officer RV Pegaso, 73m Luxury Research Yacht, Mexico & Costs Rica (Charter)
​
Joined during final stages of the build project covering roles of Medical Officer, Security Officer and Safety and Navigation Officer.
Practical responsibilities included, but were not limited to:
- Sourcing and ordering all deck equipment,
- Acting as Captain on ad hoc basis,
- Employing deck crew, and
- Orchestrating logistical loading of new vessel equipment.
- Following a successful first charter season in the Mediterranean Pegaso progressed onto high profile charters in Mexico and Costa Rica.

Zealand (Charter)
​
Initial relief position developing into full time permanent role.
Full season chartering the Mediterranean ahead of world tour leaving Italy for Maldives, Western Australia, Melbourne, Sydney and New Zealand over festive period.
Mate responsibilities included, but were not limited to:
- Management of watch rosters,
- All ISPS requirements, and
- Maintenance of navigational equipment (paper and electronic charts).
Additional responsibilities, at first under Captain supervision before being handed full control of yacht operations, included mooring and un-mooring, and conning under pilotage and close confined waters.

Shipyard period in Ft. Lauderdale and Savannah. Responsibilities included general vessel maintenance, crew watch rosters, and shipyard management.

Passage from Seychelles to Genoa followed by two weeks covering the Captain and Mates holiday for an annual maintenance period ahead of new season.

Role included:
- Ownership of all navigation equipment, weekly chart corrections and passage planning, supply chain and procurement of equipment and maintenance needs,
- Managing FFE and LSA on board, including monthly checks and annual servicing.
- Oversight of all deck crew including Bosun and three deckhands.
Acted as relief First Officer, liaising with yard management, Lloyds insurance surveys and running of drills in periods of team member absence.

Sole responsibility for summer season day-to-day deck management and materials maintenance, in addition to substantial degree of winter work e.g. repainting and varnishing to self-imposed high quality of workmanship standards.

Completed full Miami charter season, including high proportion of management during yard periods.
Commenced and saw to completion, including hand over to new crew, major refit and a crew turnover.

Joined the vessel in time to complete the final stages of a successful 10 year survey, ahead of time, to commence the Mediterranean summer season.

At the owner’s request, increased both crew quality and efficiency, with replacements sourced where required, to raise vessel standards with immediate effect.

Opened charter season with a highly commended trip to the Monaco Grand Prix; back to back Cote d’Azur/ Balearics itinerary confirmed through to October 2019.

On joining the vessel in Moscow at the end of its season I organised and under took its delivery through the Russian inland waters ways to Emden, Germany via Finland.

Commenced preparations, arranged logistical works list and ensured crew management for annual winter yard period.
